On a warm Wednesday afternoon, you talk a walk down an unfamiliar street. Off to the side, you see a tidy path lined with neatly-pruned hedges. Curiosity gets the best of you and you decide to follow the path. When you get to the end, you find yourself at the entrance of an enchanting indoor garden.

I peek through the door, hesitating. I try to decide whether I should trespass or return to my walk. With a sudden burst of impulsiveness, I push the door open all the way and enter. I am entranced. The garden is breathtaking. It’s like standing in a magazine spread. I take in the smell of the garden. I notice a man working the dirt at the base of a lovely rose bush. I nearly turn and exit immediately, not wanting to be found trespassing. But instead I watch him work. I can tell he knows what he is doing. He works the dirt expertly, lovingly. I take a step forward, careful not to make a sound, but I accidentally kick a pebble. The gardner stops and turns. I am shocked by the aged man I see.
