Out of the Rubble

Posted by admin On May - 25 - 2010

Everyone is in a daze.  There has been a terrible accident, and all around the city, people are climbing out of rubble to view the destruction.  Somewhere in the city, a person climbs out of an old building – a building that was in a sad state of disrepair even before the tragedy – and the sun shines in hopefully through gaps in the ceiling.

Who is this person?  Why was he or she in this building?  What happened to the city?  Give us 100 words in the comments, or blog your reply and let us know where to find it :)

Stranded Near the Cemetery

Posted by admin On April - 29 - 2010

You’re driving along out in the country, when suddenly, you realize that you’re out of gas.  There’s nothing around for miles, save for an old country cemetery.  It will be dark soon, and you’ve heard of dangerous characters who lurk in the area at night, looking for stranded travelers.  What happens next?  Do  you keep walking?  Do you hide?  Do you encounter anyone?

Coffee in Paraguay

Posted by admin On April - 26 - 2010

It was to be the trip of a lifetime.  3 months to study the arts in Paraguay.  One afternoon, you found yourself sitting in a cafe reading one of your course books and sipping a coffee.  The sun was shining, the city was humming along, and you were overcome with the feeling that all was right in the world.

Suddenly, a stern-looking man approaches your table and sets down his coffee.  What is he doing? Does he sit down with you?  Who is he?

Pizza Delivery

Posted by admin On February - 12 - 2010

You’re delivering pizzas one night and you’re taken to an address far outside of town.  So far, in fact, that you’re not sure why your store took it.  You call back to your manager and he acts a little odd when you ask about the address.  “Just deliver the pizza,” he says in a firm voice that lets you know no further explanation will be given.

When you get there, you step out of the car and approach the front gate, an eerie wrought-iron closure that leads to the courtyard.  What happens next?

A Meeting at Dusk

Posted by admin On January - 11 - 2010

The note had said to wait in the central part of the building, and you were certain you had the address correct – but you couldn’t help feeling a little wary of your surroundings as you surveyed the graffiti.  It would be dark before much longer, and already you could hear movement from small animals crawling around.

Why are you here?  What happens next?   Who are you meeting?

Lost in Egypt

Posted by admin On December - 31 - 2009

You’ve always been fascinated by mummies and ancient ruins, and you’ve spent years saving up for a trip to Egypt.  When you finally get there, you find yourself transfixed by ever minor detail, lingering when others move on.  In a move that’s just as predictable as any Adam Sandler comedy, you suddenly find yourself left behind after spending a bit of extra time on a particularly interesting site.  It starts to get dark, and the temperature cools dramatically.

What happens next?  What dangers lurk in the desert at night?  How will you survive?  Is anyone else out there?  And are the rumors of Egyptian curses true?

Give us 100 words (or more) in the comments or on your blog.  And of course, let us know if you blog it so we can all enjoy! :)

The Man in the Treehouse

Posted by admin On December - 28 - 2009

You’re working as a detective and a case demands that you seek out a hermit to get some potentially crucial information.  You arrive at the “address” to see a fantastic treehouse.  What happens next?  And why are you there? Give us 100 words or more to explore the topic.  Let us know if you write about it on your blog so we can all enjoy it :)

Departing By Cab

Posted by admin On December - 23 - 2009

You step out towards the curb and the doorman opens the cab door for you.  Ahh, the possibility of an open cab and a driver willing to take you anywhere.  Where are you going, though?  Are you free, or are you constrained by a specific mission?  Are you in a hurry?  Are you traveling alone?

Wednesday Afternoon in the Gardens

Posted by admin On December - 20 - 2009

On a warm Wednesday afternoon, you talk a walk down an unfamiliar street.  Off to the side, you see a tidy path lined with neatly-pruned hedges.  Curiosity gets the best of you and you decide to follow the path.  When you get to the end, you find yourself at the entrance of an enchanting indoor garden.

What happens next?  Who is inside, if anyone?  What do you do?

Deep In the Forest

Posted by admin On November - 27 - 2009

It’s cold out, and you can hear a slight crunch in the grass with each step.  A bit of moonlight streams through the naked branches, allowing you to look down the path.

What do you see?

Why are you here?

What happens next?

Give us 100 words in the comments or on your blog.  We’d love it if you share!
