Lost in Mexico

Posted by admin On May - 30 - 2010

A 46-year-old woman has recently gotten divorced and she decides to take a solo vacation to Mexico.  She’s terrified at the thought of drug lords and human traffickers and all the other unsavory things she’s heard on TV.  In fact, she’s allowed TV to keep her from traveling throughout her entire life.

How did she come to the decision to make the trip?  What happens on the trip?  What does she do on the trip?

Pick a direction and give us 100 words or more in the comments.  If you prefer, blog about it and let us know where we can all take a look :)

Out of the Rubble

Posted by admin On May - 25 - 2010

Everyone is in a daze.  There has been a terrible accident, and all around the city, people are climbing out of rubble to view the destruction.  Somewhere in the city, a person climbs out of an old building – a building that was in a sad state of disrepair even before the tragedy – and the sun shines in hopefully through gaps in the ceiling.

Who is this person?  Why was he or she in this building?  What happened to the city?  Give us 100 words in the comments, or blog your reply and let us know where to find it :)

Robot Love

Posted by admin On May - 24 - 2010

He was part man, part robot.  She was completely in love.  How did he get past her initial objections to his unusual features?  What does he see in her, given all the human imperfections she possesses?  What kind of mundane details are different in a relationship like theirs?

Give us 100 words about their futuristic love story – either in the comments below or on your own blog.  And of course, don’t forget to let us know where we can read it if you decide to reply.

Rainy Day Interruption

Posted by admin On May - 18 - 2010

It’s morning, and you’re walking down the rain soaked streets amid crowds of people who don’t hesitate to shove you as necessary to get where they’re going.  Suddenly, you feel a tug at your arm and you’re pull sideways until you come face to face with a strange man with a black hat and umbrella.

Why did he stop you?

In a Strange Place, Looking Down

Posted by admin On May - 15 - 2010

How anyone could be anything but happy in this awe-inspiring, light, and airy building is a mystery…but at the top of the stairs, a young woman in a flowing dress is looking down over the rail.  She seems to be pondering the almost infinite drop.  What is going on?  Why is she lingering?  What happens next?

Magpie on the Gallows

Posted by admin On May - 13 - 2010

It’s a sunny spring day at the gallows.  Surprisingly, the condemned aren’t hanging their heads and shuffling towards defeat.  As they are dragged up to meet their fate, they dance.  Perhaps it’s in defiance of the government that sent them there, perhaps it’s in defiance of death itself, or perhaps it’s to send a message to onlookers: We’re all headed for the gallows; some of us are just a little bit closer.

Why are they here?  Who are they?  What’s going on?

The Burden

Posted by admin On May - 12 - 2010

You see him in passing.  Although his physical burden is great, you get the sense that he is lighter emotionally than many of the people you know.  Why?  Who is he?  Who are you?  What are you doing in his world?

Give us 100 words in the comments, or write it on your blog and let us know where we can all enjoy it :)

The Morning After

Posted by admin On May - 10 - 2010

A cheap mattress without blankets…A woman getting dressed…Below, the increasing clatter of Rome’s citizens just waking up.

What happened here?

My Husband Has Lost His Mind

Posted by admin On May - 8 - 2010

Over the years, you’ve gotten used to your husband’s sudden, strange ideas.  This one, though, was just a bit much.  Last week, he came home and announced that he had purchased a barn that would become your home – an amazing deal, he said – the perfect way to get back in touch with the world and each other.

You’re wondering how far it will be to the grocery store…how long the commute will be…what will your family and friends think?

Now, he’s taking you out to see it.  What are you thinking and feeling?  What do you say to him?

Quiet on the Set

Posted by admin On May - 3 - 2010

You’re working on the snowy set of an upcoming movie.  It’s cold, it’s late, and everyone is determined to get the last shot before calling it a night.  In one take, the director yells, “Action!” and everything starts as usual.  The only problem is that the lead actress doesn’t come out on cue.

Where is she?  What happened?

Give us 100 words in the comments or blog about it and let us know where we can read your entry :)
